Project “Improvement of the tourist infrastructure in the area of Šasko Lake”
The NGO Green life successfully implemented the project “Improvement of the tourist infrastructure in the area of Šasko Lake”. The project duration was eight months.
The activities of this project began with a workshop for the local population which gave us the opportunity to hear the opinions and views of locals in a constructive atmosphere, but also to define a route for the priority bike track this area was lacking.
Furthermore,, we placed new benches and a fence on the main lookout of the archeological site Svač, which now enables a comfortable and safe sojourn in this place on the cliff with a beautiful view of Šasko lake and its surroundings.
The presence of the invasive species Amorpha fruticosa, which is known among the locals for its characteristic odor, is increasingly visible in the area of Šasko lake, which is characterized by biodiversity that recommends it for the inclusion in the Ramsar list (Wetland of international importance). In order to point out the problem of the spread of this extremely invasive species, we held an educational workshop on its harmful effects, and then, together with workshop participants, removed some of the individuals.
The most demanding activity during the realization of this project was marking the bicycle track. In cooperation with the representatives of the local population who spend their free time actively and enjoy cycling, we have established a bicycle route that will represent a good basis for marking future bicycle tracks in this area. As a part of this activity in the Šasko lake area, we put up 8 signalization and two informative boards. The total length of the marked bike route is 20 km.
